HOW IT WORKS!

THE CLEAR CHOICE SPA WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

NATURES MECHANISM

By examining natural waterways, along with human and animal immune systems, The Clear Choice Co. developed a concept of duplicating nature’s ability to balance and purify aerobic (oxygen using) water systems. These natural water systems require circulation, filtration, oxygen and a healthy bacterial base in an environment not contaminated by manmade chemical toxins.

The established indigenous bacteria use naturally secreted enzymes to catalyze or induce natural oxidation. This natural oxidation breaks down or degrades organic waste. The result is a food source to sustain the healthy bacteria and the harmless byproducts of water, carbon dioxide and simple salts.

This completed process is called biodegrading. Nature has completely removed the organic waste! When humans enhance or accelerate this age-old process, it is called bioremediation.

One example of this occurred when healthy bacteria were applied to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Scientists knew that this would biodegrade the oil without having a negative effect on the ecosystem or humans in the area. On the other hand, if toxic oxidizers or chemicals, like chlorine or harsh detergents, were used, the entire natural ecosystem would die! It would be replaced by bacteria and other life forms that could survive and grow in a toxic environment. This type of environment often supports diseases and bacteria that infect both man and wildlife.

Let’s examine a few naturally controlled ecosystems.

A clear mountain lake or stream utilizes circulation, aeration and healthy natural bacteria to balance and cleanse itself. If manmade toxic chemical pollutants are introduced through accidents or runoff, the healthy indigenous bacteria are reduced and may no longer be able to keep up with the natural organic waste they normally biodegrade to keep the ecosystem purified. If continued, the entire natural system will fail. Eventually the water is unable to support life in any form.

If the same water system is overloaded with nutrients from fertilizers or waste discharged from an upstream sewage treatment plant the end result will be the same.

In this case, the natural system is overloaded with waste that is not necessarily toxic but is in such a large volume that the oxygen is used up as the healthy aerobic bacteria work on the waste overload.

With time the bottom of the body of water becomes anaerobic, or free of oxygen. The efficient aerobic, oxygen using, bacteria are replaced with inefficient, slower acting anaerobic bacteria. Soon the entire water column, top to bottom is devoid of oxygen and the essential type of bacteria that purify the water have died off. The natural ecosystem is destroyed.

Adding circulation equipment and air diffusers is the most common way to combat this type of problem. This enhances the natural aerobic bacteria base by introducing the needed oxygen to the entire water column, allowing the biodegrading to keep up with the nutrient overload. This is often seen in operation at golf courses, where fertilizer runoff creates a nutrient overload in the ponds. Air diffusers, circulation pumps and fountains are added to mix the water column and replace the needed oxygen.

How is a healthy environment established in an aquarium, or fishpond?

For fish, we allow a slow buildup of the healthy bacteria, types that eliminate waste and purify the water. Among the bacteria needed are nitrobacters and nitrosomonas. These bacteria break down ammonia from fish waste and fish food by inducing natural oxidation. The waste is reduced to nitrogen gas and escapes into the air. This process, known as nitrification, is also dependant on oxygen, so air is pumped into the tank or pond to insure this natural biodegrading is complete. The result is a healthy ecosystem that protects the fish from disease and toxic buildup.

How does this work in a spa or hot tub?

With a better understanding of natural ecosystems, let’s look at what we need to recreate a natural water environment that is capable of self purification.

First, we need a vessel to hold water. This vessel must be able to circulate and introduce a lot of oxygen. A spa or hot tub is a perfect design. Next we need clean water that contains a healthy base of helpful bacteria. City and private well water contain approximately 10,000 healthy bacteria per milliliter as dictated by federal, state and local codes. Removal of any heavy metals and minerals will also balance the water and remove unwanted food sources. By filtering our tap water through The Clear Choice filter, we are left with balanced water that contains the helpful bacteria we need.

At this point we have the basic natural environment needed. A biofilter will further enhance our system. In natural waterways, or aquariums, the gravel or bottom sediment is the biofilter. This biofilter is a place that traps waste as the water flows by. It is also the home of the healthy bacterial colonies needed to biodegrade the waste and purify the water. Guess what? A spa filtration system is a perfect biofilter design.

We now have a healthy balanced ecosystem in our spa that only nature can provide. The only thing we need to do now is accelerate this natural bioremediation system so that it can keep pace with the waste introduced from bathers.

Clear Choice Spa Water Treatment contains a non-toxic surfactant that breaks down organic waste to a smaller size. The smaller waste particles allow much faster natural oxidation. It also contains a special nutrient or food source that sustains the healthy bacteria we need but will not feed any type of infectious bacteria we do not want. This insures that the system stays alive and healthy between bathers. The final ingredient in our product is a blend of several types or classes of natural enzymes and coenzymes that rapidly start natural oxidation and the self purification of the spa water.

JUST THE FACTS!

Clear Choice Spa treatment contains no toxic sanitizers or pesticides. Clear Choice Spa Treatment’s enzymes create natural oxidation. Unlike traditional chemical oxidizers, our product is not used up during the chemical reaction of the oxidation. Even though the waste is eliminated, we cannot, and do not, claim to be an oxidizer as approved by chemical companies or environmental agencies.

The Clear Choice Spa Treatment System can not claim that it kills unwanted bacteria as toxic sanitizers and pesticides do. We can point out that we are a natural bioremediation system. If you research the EPA’s “A Citizens Guide to Bioremediation,” you will find that the EPA describes the perfect bioremediation system as: A closed loop circulating vessel full of oxygen filled water that is enhanced with a nutrient , along with natural microbial products (enzymes, etc.) that accelerate biodegradation and natural oxidation of the targeted waste. They also state that indigenous healthy bacteria in this type of system are rarely displaced by foreign unwanted bacteria.

The Clear Choice natural spa water system was invented by a leader in natural bioremediation who has replaced traditional toxic chemicals in a multitude of industries including: medical and dental, food processing, agriculture, wastewater, recreational waters, meat packers and aquaculture.
